Course Assignments/ Requirements

Class Participation (33% of grade): Think about, reflect on, and try to apply educational material and academic insights in the workplace and the world. How can we put these materials and insights to use? How can we develop and apply knowledge most efficaciously? Bring your experience, education and analytical skills to bear on the discussion topics.

Class Assignments (33% of grade): Each class results in certain action items (assignments). Bring your experience, education and analytical skills to bear in undertaking these action items.

Topic Development (33% of grade): Choose one area from the syllabus of particular relevance to your interests and where you are at in this process, and help develop the course material and discussion.

Course Credits

This course is valued at 0.5 CUs. The course is designed as a practicum with minimal assigned readings or traditional academic content. Rather, we will meet and collectively discuss how best to synthesize our professional experience and other aspects of our educational programs with the aim of increasing our value as knowledge workers.

An additional 0.5 CUs of independent study credit is available for any student able to either (1) demonstrate significant, tangible advancement toward developing authority in a work domain or (2) a significant scholarly work illuminating contemporary knowledge work.
